I am happy to find something worthy of posting in a community that has entertained me so greatly. There are many who complain that the world today has sunk from its golden pinnacle of refinement, that where once bowers of sunshine and rainbows hung now juvenile delinquents await in shadows to strip you of your pocket-money and embroidered finery. This is obviously poppycock, as hooligans, jerks, thieves and ruffians have existed at all times in all places. Mr. E.W. Barton-Wright realised this back in 1901, and for the edification of his fellow gentlemen compiled a method of mannered self-defence called 'Bartitsu', illustrated in his multipart article 'Self-Defence With A Walking Stick: The Different Methods of Defending Oneself with a Walking-Stick or Umbrella when Attacked under Unequal Conditions'. Do enjoy.
